Title

Remains of the Jump-Off Joe Sea Stack near Newport, Oregon

Description

A photograph of the Pacific Ocean and remains of the sea stack, 'Jump-Off Joe', near Newport, Oregon. 'Jump-Off Joe' had been an arched rock formation in the 1800s, but collapsed in 1916; since then it has completely eroded away. This photograph, taken in the late 1920s, shows the state of its remains at that time. The Yaquina Head lighthouse appears in the distance. This photograph appears in an album that was compiled by Edith Hansen McGill, a 1930 Pacific University graduate.
