Description

An obituary for the former Pacific University Professor of Public speaking, Henry D. Smith. Smith taught at Pacific University from 1902-1904. After that time he moved back East to teach at his alma mater, Beloit College. As well as to study in the Divinity School at Yale. He was an active member of Yale's debate team. In August of 1906 Smith drown after trying to save a young woman in Lake Geneva, New York. This obituary appears in a scrapbook compiled by Frances B. Clapp, a 1908 Pacific University graduate.
