'Old College Building Burns' Newspaper Clipping

A newspaper clipping about Pacific University's First Herrick Hall burning down. In the photograph men with fire hoses can be seen attempting to put out the last of the fire. The fire appeared to have started in a chimney and quickly spread around noon on March 12th, 1906. First Herrick Hall served as the women's dormitory. Most of the students were at church when the fire started. According to the article about 40 students and professors boarded at First Herrick Hall at the time of the fire. This newspaper article appears in a scrapbook compiled by Frances B. Clapp, a 1908 Pacific University graduate.
