A gravel road outside of Banks, Oregon, sometime in the late 1920s.
[caption] A typical gravel road in Oregon in the late 1920's [sic]; Banks Herald Newspaper, August 1, 1901 'John Kessler says he hoped hills will wear down so he can use something better than a horse and buggy' At that time, Kessler was the mail carrier on Route #1, which was established from the old Greenville.
