Image of 15-panel handcrafted quilt depicting scenes from local history. The quilt was created as a fundraiser for the new Cedar Mill Community Library which opened in January 1976. A pamphlet was created to accompany the quilt which describes each square and what it represents. Refer to CMLtxt_000005 for the full text. The Introduction describes the project: Since April 1976, a group of 15 artistic women accomplished in stitchery and sewing have been at work creating the Cedar Mill Heritage Quilt. Each of its 15 squares depicts an historical landmark of the Cedar Mill area. Some of the subjects no longer exist, but are still vivid in the memories of the large number of our neighbors who were born here or who have lived here for many year's. Each individual chose her subject and designed her picture. Dolly Freed, a local artist and photographer, took pictures or provided drawings and guidance for those who wished it.
