Description
Three wagons with two-horse hitches, their beds filled with milk cans, stand in front of a large white wooden building. Several men in hats and work clothes stand around the wagons and on the porch at the rear of the building. The building has large windows and square vents on top; at the back a large tank with chimney-like extensions. A packed dirt road runs through the foreground of the image, and bare trees are visible on the skyline in the rear.
Hillsboro's first Condenser. Built in 1902 by Dr. J.P. Tamiesie. To Oregon 1879. To Hillsboro to practice in 1892.; newspaper clipping taped to back: Sixty Years Ago. Argus week of Dec. 11, 1902--the mechanic has arrived and is busily engaged in putting in place <illegible>...for condensed milk plant. Thus ...<illegible>...will see the first condensed milk in ...<illegible.>; Second newspaper clipping attached: 60 Years Ago: 1963. Argus, week of July 2, 1903--Oregon Condensed Milk company has received two large boilers for its plant, each being 100-horse-power.
