Description

Black and white image of half a dozen women and two men standing outside of a two-story building decorated for the Fourth of July. Bunting decorates the recessed doorway in front of which the women stand, as well as the signpost and sign advertising the restaurant and rooms for rent. The sign on the wall proclaims 'Fourth of July, Shute Park, Hillsboro, Ore. July 2-3-4. Orations by Popular Speakers [illegible] Base ball [sic] at Athletic Park. Races-Games-Sports-Prizes [illegible]. Great Pyrotechnic Display Evening of Jul. 4.' The sign on the door next to the restaurant declares 'Rooms for Rent,' and the sign hanging over the poured sidewalk states, 'Meals 25 - Restaurant - Rooms 25 & 50.' A one-cent United States postage stamp is affixed to the back, and the postmark reads Hillsboro, Ore., July 18, 4:30 p.m., 1910.' A second postmark reads 'Benton, Iowa. Jul 22, A.M. 1910, Rec'd.'

I am dreadful busy first now are going to con[illegible] in the laundry in the morning. Will get $3 [?] a week and my board. About [?] Bessie now. Every [illegible] week she will ans. your letter before long. this is the restaurant the folks bought. And the crew that worked there when I did. But have quit until the folks come. I am in Hillsboro now and having fine times. My friend and I went out on an excursion trip yesterday had a fine time. Will write later. Address. Mabel Fuller, Hillsboro, Oreg.
