Unidentified wedding in Protestant church
Title
Unidentified wedding in Protestant church
Description
Black and white image of a wedding party standing at the front of a church sanctuary. The young bride wears a short-sleeved, long gown with chiffon overlay, and a full veil and holds a bouquet. The groom wears a suit and a printed tie and a small boutonniere, as do his groomsmen and the ring-bearer. The bridesmaids wear dresses similar in style to the bride's, long skirts with chiffon overlay, and hold bouquets with large ribbons. Behind the couple is a large wreath of ferns with mums interspersed, and an image of Jesus as a shepherd with sheep can be seen behind that. On the wall of the stage are pennants that read 'Christian Ambassadors' and above the stage is a sign that reads 'Behold, I come quickly and my reward is with me.' A Christian flag and a United States flag stand on either side of the stage. This image is part of the Herbert E. McMullen bequest. McMullen was a local photographer; he owned Hillsboro Studio and also collected photographs taken in the area by other photographers.
