Bowen/Hatcher Wedding party
Title
Bowen/Hatcher Wedding party
Description
Black and white image of a wedding party consisting of a bride and groom, two groomsmen and a bridesmaid and two small flower girls. The group stands at the front of a church with several candelabras and small trees behind them. The bride wears a long satin gown with a shoulder-width V-neck and a train; a portion of the hem has pulled up to show off her petticoat. Her hair is worn up and back, and her bangs form a large bouffant in front of her headdress and veil. The bridesmaid wears a long dress of printed material with a scalloped neckline and short sleeves. Her hat is small and lace-trimmed, and she holds a large bouquet. The groom and groomsmen wear suits and ties and their hair is combed back from their faces. Two of the men wear round wire-framed or rimless glasses. The two young flower girls have long skirts with ruffles and short, puffed sleeves. This image is part of the Herbert E. McMullen bequest. McMullen was a local photographer; he owned Hillsboro Studio and also collected photographs taken in the area by other photographers.
